How most UAE education consultants get paid, and why it matters
Most "study abroad consultants" in the UAE earn commission from the universities they place students with. That is a normal and legal business model, and it is worth understanding, because it means the shortlist a family is shown is influenced by which institutions pay a recruitment commission and which do not. Several very good UK universities pay nothing at all.
We charge the family a fee and take nothing from universities. That is a worse business model and a better shortlist. We mention it because nobody else in this market says it out loud, and parents deserve to know which of the two arrangements they are in before they take advice on their child's future.
Entry requirements depend on the curriculum, not the country
This is the practical thing that generic guides get wrong. Students in the UAE sit at least five different curricula, and UK universities treat them very differently. A predicted grade profile that opens doors on one curriculum will not on another.

The single most valuable thing we do is have this conversation early — ideally eighteen months out — because most of the fixable problems are subject-choice problems, and subject choices become unfixable once the year has started.
What the process actually involves
- Assessment. Curriculum, predicted grades, subject interests, budget and what the student actually wants out of it. We will say if the target list is unrealistic.
- Shortlist. Five UCAS choices, structured so there is genuine spread: aspirational, realistic and secure. Not five variations on the same risk level.
- Personal statement. We coach it. We do not write it, and we will not. Universities are increasingly good at spotting statements written by someone other than the applicant, and a student who cannot defend their own statement at interview is in a worse position than one with a plainer statement they wrote themselves.
- References and predicted grades. Coordinating with the school so the reference arrives on time and says something useful.
- Submission and tracking. Deadlines, UCAS Extra if needed, and firm and insurance choices.
- Offers and results. Including Clearing, which from the UAE has a real time-zone problem — UK results day starts while the Gulf is already into the afternoon and the good Clearing places move within hours.
- Documents and visa. Attestation of certificates where required, and the financial evidence rules for the Student Route.
The document side, which is where families usually get stuck
Certificates and transcripts frequently need attesting before a UK university or the Home Office will accept them, and the requirements differ depending on who issued the document and who is asking for it. We handle this in-house rather than sending you to a third party, because it is one of our core services.
Two things worth knowing now: a diploma and its transcript count as two separate documents for fee purposes, and a laminated certificate cannot be stamped as it is, though a solicitor-certified true copy normally solves that.

A fixed fee for the application cycle, quoted before we start, with attestation of documents priced separately per document at cost plus our fixed handling fee. No commission from any university, no percentage of anything, and no fee that changes once we have seen how much the family can afford.
What we do not do
- We do not write personal statements, essays or coursework.
- We do not guarantee admission anywhere. Nobody honest can.
- We are not immigration lawyers. We can prepare and check a Student Route application's supporting documents, but where a case has genuine immigration complexity you need a regulated adviser and we will say so.

Common questions
Are you paid by the universities?
No. We are paid by the family and take no commission from any institution. Most consultancies in this market do take university commission, which is legal and common but does shape the shortlist a family is shown.
Will you write my personal statement?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who offers to. We coach it through drafts so the finished statement is genuinely the student's own work and they can defend every line of it at interview. Universities are increasingly good at identifying statements written by third parties.
My child is on the CBSE curriculum. Can they apply directly to UK universities?
Often yes, but it depends heavily on the course and the university, and Class XII subject choices matter more than the overall percentage. Some competitive courses will want specific subjects or an additional qualification. This is exactly the conversation worth having eighteen months out rather than in the application year.
What is a foundation year and does my child need one?
A foundation year is a preparatory year before the degree, used where a student's qualifications do not map directly onto UK first-year entry. It is common for students on the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum. It is not a lesser route, but it adds a year and a year's cost, so it is worth knowing early.
Do certificates need attesting for a UK university?
Sometimes. It depends on the institution and on the Home Office requirements for the visa. Ask the university in writing what they need before paying for anything. If attestation is required, we handle it directly.
What about Clearing from the UAE?
It is harder from here than from the UK, mainly because of the time difference. UK results day opens while the Gulf is already well into the afternoon, and the best Clearing places go within hours. If Clearing is a realistic possibility we plan for it in advance rather than reacting on the day.
How much does it cost?
A fixed fee for the application cycle, quoted upfront once we have assessed the student's profile. Document attestation is charged separately, per document, at the government fee plus our fixed handling fee.
Who pays you, and do you ever take a fee from the other side?
Our client pays us, and only our client. We do not accept a fee, commission, rebate or referral payment from a counterparty, or from any agent, provider, supplier or institution we introduce or work alongside. If one is offered, we decline it. This applies across every service we provide, without exception.
